How To Know Who You Are & Self-Actualize
Do you have some doubt about your personality or personality type, or are you perhaps worried that you are mistyped?
Do you find the process of determining your personality type and learning about personality psychology confusing and sometimes overwhelming?
Do you want a clear and straightforward process that you can follow at home, without the need for an expert?
My name is Erik Thor and I want to offer you a straightforward and logical approach to typology. The truth is, after more than a decade of learning, psychology to me is like assembling lego. It’s a straightforward approach where in my head, everything is neatly organized and can be combined in a simple manner to form cognitive functions or personality types.
I’m a big fan of applied and humanistic psychology, and thinkers like Carl Jung, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Carl Rogers, and Abraham Maslow. My goal is to apply personality psychology to improve my own life and the lives of others, helping bring their insights to the people. When personality psychology is applied right, you can use it to create a life of flow and well-being for yourself and to connect more with your friends and your family. If you know who you are and if you learn how to live in harmony with the world, you can find joy in any moment, in any work, or in any hobby or activity.
When Mengju Wu reached out to me and asked me to make an online course, I first wanted to make a course on how to achieve this flow state, and the optimal experience and well-being. But first, I thought, I had to lay out the groundwork. That’s why I decided to create this course and a straightforward process you could use to determine your own personality type.
In this course, I will share insights like:
- Why The Dichotomies Matter, and Why You Need To Know Them To Understand The Cognitive Functions
- Why You Need To Know The Cognitive Functions And Dichotomies To Determine Your Personality Type
- Why It’s So Hard To Determine Your Personality Type, And Why So Many Are Typeless
- Why Context Matters: Why Your Personality Shows Up Differently Depending On If You Are In Flow, Stress, Autopilot, or Anxiety.
- Why Situation Matters: Why You Show Up Differently At Work, At Home, With Friends, and During Play
- How To Track Your Personality Over Time, The Scientific Way
- How To Study And Measure Personality Psychology, The Scientific Way
The course contains 90 minutes of video footage, exercises, and questions, and a toolkit you can use to track your personality type over time.
Also, enjoy a bonus discussion where I discuss the next steps and how you can continue on the process of self-exploration, and keep an open-minded approach, always learning new things about yourself, and finding new sides and nuances to your personality.
Not convinced yet? Because my personality type has been widely discussed online, some of you might doubt why I’d make a good teacher on how to find out your personality type. But the truth is, that is exactly why I am the right person to discuss this topic. I’m a complicated person that has been in this community for a long time, and I’ve learned from and interacted with most of the other experts in the community. My many years of personal growth and self-inquiry have made me more difficult to type, as I’ve learned from all the different personality types and done my best to integrate their insights and strategies into my own life.
Frequently asked questions
Because I’ve been exposed to so many different organizations, systems, interpretations, and viewpoints, I can present you with the bigger picture of personality psychology. No matter what system you apply, you should find clear value in my content. And even if you don’t agree with me on everything, you can always expect to hear thought-provoking and new ideas.
My goal is to always stay humble and open to learning. Because I share my ideas openly and transparently, it’s normal to disagree with me on many things. I always appreciate feedback and revise and improve my content as I go. I trust you to think critically and to pick out the advice that works in your life. Feel free to let me know your experiences at firstname.lastname@example.org.
