Perfectionism Is Your Own Intuition Trying To Protect You
I’ve been thinking about a question that gets to the very heart of what it means to be a creative and intuitive person: If Mozart never touched a piano, would we even know his name?
This question is for anyone who feels like they have a universe of ideas bubbling inside them but finds themselves paralyzed, unable to bring them to life. Does having a rich inner world of imagination and ‘what ifs’ make you an intuitive, or does intuition demand action?
In this video, I explore the complicated relationship between creativity and its arch-nemesis: perfectionism. We’ll talk about:
Why the most imaginative people can also be the most stuck.
The difference between using your intuition to create versus using it just to survive.
How perfectionism promises to keep you safe but ends up keeping you from truly living.
Practical steps to start acting on your ideas, even the big, scary ones. (Hint: you can start today!)
I believe that ideas choose us. They see a spark and hope that we will be the ones to carry them into the world. But what happens when we say “no” out of fear?
This is a conversation about embracing the beautiful, messy, and exhilarating process of being creative. Itโs about choosing to live, not just survive.
What are your thoughts? Do you feel the pull between your creative ideas and the fear of not being perfect? Share your experiences in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you.
See you in the next one!
