My journey to understanding Carl Jung’s theories of personality types and transcendence has been a rollercoaster ride. When I first began researching MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Personality Type theory, I was fascinated by the idea that people could be grouped into 16 static personality types.

But over the past few years, it seemed more and more like a rigid and limiting set of rules that I felt confined by. After doing some further research, however, I realized that there was much more to these theories than meets the eye. Carl Jung never meant for typology to be used the way it is being used by the Myers-Briggs Personality Type community. He wanted it to be a roadmap we could use to learn from all personality types. He wanted us to learn to embrace all forms of thinking in our personal life.

How could I make room for reading or learning while also being social and outgoing? How can I become better at advanced planning and goal-setting? How can I make sure that I am able to use all of my cognitive functions in a balanced way? The healthy, integrated individual, has realized there is no conflict between Feeling and Thinking. This realization has made him wise.

How I Transformed My Own Life Using Carl Jung’s Ideas

In 2022 I began doing a series of experiments. In March, I raised my reading goal to 50 books a year, from 20, and finally landed on 35. Halfway there and a massive improvement in just a year. At the same time, I decided to become more physically active. I started going on daily walks, reaching 11,000+ steps in April on average. I would spend hours out in nature, and often brought my keyboard so that I could write outside in the sun.

In the summer, I decided to prioritize my social life more. I started going to events and meetups daily and began organizing my own group. My efforts helped me become more social and proactive. And in the autumn, I invested long hours into learning programming and coding, as well as advanced planning techniques. This allowed me to be smarter about how I used my time.

All these experiences showed me something important: It is possible to grow and learn, if you keep an open mind, and have a healthy approach. Everything I did was for my own benefit, happiness, and well-being. I didn’t do it because someone else told me to. I did it because I wanted to do it.

Learning to become all personality types at once

These questions led me to develop a new approach that transcends the MBTI Personality Type theory. Instead of limiting myself, this shift in perspective has helped me open up to the possibilities and self-actualize. Now, I focus on finding flow by learning from all personality types and integrating them into my daily life.

This year, I’ve already made so much progress in understanding myself better. My efforts have improved my cognitive flexibility, allowing me to switch perspectives and understand other personality types and people better. My efforts have also made it easier for me to get along with other people and make myself understood by them. And most of all, it has shown me that all my dreams are possible.
