People often ask me “Erik, what is the perfect match?” and the truth is, there is no “perfect match.” In this article, I will show you how you can connect better with all the 16 personalities. I will show you the strengths and struggles of each match up and show you how you can build healthy relationships with the different personality types.

MBTI Relationship Chart

In the above chart, you can search up all the 256 different matchups. I have discovered four different scales to grade relationships based on what you will find easy in another personality type, and what you might find more challenging. For example, while some types share a high likemindedness, they can often have communication struggles. And while some types are very conducive to growth and inspiration, they may be more difficult to work with.

The best relationships for shared interests and values

It feels amazing to be with someone you can recognise yourself in. Likeminded people are easy because they just naturally get you. You don’t have to explain yourself to them, they understand you and your motives and values and respect you for it. When your likemindedness ratio is high or very high, interests just click. You’re both curious about similar things and you share similar values in life, too. You’ll find it refreshing that somebody wants and likes the things you do. It means you’re going to have to compromise less on hobbies and activities.

The best relationships for growth

When your growth quotient is high or very high, you will find that you grow and feel stimulated around your partner. They challenge you – but in a good way. They show you different perspectives and help you think about things differently. Being with someone with a high growth quotient means hanging out with someone who asks questions and gives you a fresh doze of inspiration.

The best relationships for teamwork

A teammate is someone who won’t get in your way and who’s strengths and talents will complement yours. Personality types with high teamwork compatibility are great as coworkers or companions on a project or mutual venture. You’ll like being with this person because they pick up your slack. Whatever you struggle with, they’re great at. You also do well because you tend to share similar attitudes to things. You’re not going to argue about approach or how to solve a problem, because you both take a similar approach.

The best relationship for communication

With these personality types, you’ll experience a really fluid and easy communication. It can even feel like these types can read your mind. These types understand you and that means that you don’t have to explain yourself to them.
