How To Get A Personality
Okay, so you want a YouTube description for this video? Let’s get into it!

Ever feel like people try to stuff you into a personality box? 🏷️ Like, “Oh, you’re that type,” and that’s supposed to be the end of the story? Well, I’ve been thinking a lot about this, and I really believe personality is so much more dynamic than that! It’s not something you’re just born with and stuck with, like an old sweater you can’t get rid of (even if it has holes in it… unless you like holey sweaters, which is totally cool too!).

In this video, I’m exploring the idea that personality is something we actively build and grow throughout our lives. It’s your own unique quest, a journey to become this wonderfully complex individual that is just… well, you! Nobody else can be you, with your specific blend of quirks, values, and choices, right?

So, how does this development actually happen? I like to think of it in three different directions:

My new 16 personalities test

Want to discover your personality at work, at home, and in groups?

Breadth (Going Wide! ↔️): This is all about expanding your horizons! Think about all the different hobbies you try, the new people you meet, the goals you set, the creative ideas you have, the experiences you gather, and the things you learn. The more you explore, the wider your personality becomes. It’s like becoming a chameleon, able to adapt and show different sides of yourself in different situations. Do you feel like you have a lot of different interests and can connect with many different kinds of people? That could be your breadth showing!

Depth (Going Deep! ⚓): This is where commitment and intensity come in. It’s about really investing in specific relationships, mastering a particular skill, or dedicating yourself to certain goals. When you go deep, you build a really strong foundation and understanding in those areas. You might not have a million hobbies, but the ones you have, you know inside and out. Every time you engage, you learn something new, you go a layer deeper. It’s through this depth that things start to mean a lot to you, and yes, attachments form. But is attachment really so scary? Or is the real fear never having anything to feel attached to?

Height (Going Up! ⬆️): This one is about self-awareness, that meta-level understanding of who you are. It’s about asking those big questions: “Who am I?” “What does it mean to be me?” “Where does this ‘me’ come from?” You can develop a strong sense of self-awareness even if your breadth or depth isn’t as developed. You might know yourself incredibly well, even if you haven’t explored every corner of the world or mastered a thousand skills. It’s that conscious knowing that you are, and perhaps, who you are.

We all journey along these lines, don’t we? Sometimes we crave new experiences and want to broaden our world (hello, breadth!). Other times, we might feel a bit scattered and yearn to understand ourselves better (time for some height!). And then there are moments when we want to truly master something, to find that special skill or connection (that’s the call of depth!).

So, what about you? Which of these dimensions – breadth, depth, or height – do you feel like you’re working on in your personality right now? What do you feel you need more of in your life? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for watching, and I’m excited to hear your thoughts! See you in the next one!
