We all have things that we feel that we have control over. And things that we feel that we have no control over. Today, we will talk about the nature of the conscious and the unconscious.

The things that are under our control are often things that are closely related to our personality type.

The INFJ believes themselves to be in control of the world of Introverted iNtuition. The ENFP believes that they are in control of Extroverted iNtuition. Contrastingly, the ENFP feels they have no control over Introverted iNtuition. The INFJ feels they have no control over Extroverted iNtuition. This is why many INFJs fear Extroverted iNtuition, branding it chaos. This is why many ENFPs avoid Introverted iNtuition, thinking of it as the crazy ravings of a madman.

We generally identify the unconscious with madness. It operates in a way that is so different to how we do things, that we can easily think it crazy. It takes bravery – it takes faith – to accept and to open yourself to the options of the unconscious. It is to accept a level of craziness in your life. So, gifted artists, seers, mystics, and creative types all have one thing in common, and that is their ability to channel the unconscious into the world. They use their sleeping mind, and they do it brilliantly.

The unconscious rests in two domains:

The easy world, representing anything we consider boring, or unimportant. We constantly filter out stimulation and sensory information that is irrelevant to us.

The challenging, complicated world. This world represents anything that we do not know or understand.

If we do not entertain the unconscious, we are doomed to keep repeating the same decisions and same actions over and over every day. We will follow a basic script that has worked for us so far. We will not be able to comprehend or open ourselves to new opportunities, new relationships, or new experiences. So we need challenge – and inspiration.

Inspiration is found in building a relationship to the opposite version of the same values that you possess. An INFJ can find their unconscious in an ENFP. The ESTJ can find their unconscious in the ISTP.
